Recently, or can I say this year, I started to have an interest in stained glass. So, I did some research on it during my sembreak. And it make me wanted to go to this particular church in France which is Chartres Cathedral even though I'm not a christian but the artwork on the stained glass and when it shine by the sunlight, it so really beautiful.

Well, lets talk some stained glass history. Stained glass refers to glass which is coloured and have artwork on it. In olden days, stained glass has been used in church for the windows. and most of it stained with the story of Jesus as people will easily understand through pictures.

And nowadays, stained glass is use in house, building, office etc. It is also used in decoration like candle lamp and also pen which I saw it in japan, and it's quite famous.

On 20 Ocotber 2016, Taylor's Lakeside Campus had a carnival with Rakan muda. There was a few galleries in different timing but I just get to see two out of four. They also provide a few workshop such as wood workshop, brush lettering, leather making, silk screening and a lot more. It was crowded with people, not only students but also outsiders.

The gallery from Titik Merah

The round one is my favourite. It gave me a mystery, indescribable emotion and feeling.

 Gallery from Nazrin Latipi

The whale artwork remind me of "life of pi"
Black and white make the details to be more details.
There's also a board called Jelajah Warna for everyone to draw on it using crayon which they had provided.

Kenji Chai, my favourite graffiti artist, is from Sandakan. He studied graphic design at CAA college in Kuala Lumpur. He studied and worked in graphic design field but there was a certain sense of detachment between him and the artwork. In 2008, he discovered graffiti and felt that the sense of self satisfaction in doing graffiti. He had done a lot of graffiti around KL, Penang and Pangkor island. He just to have a name "Black Fryday", it is a combination of his favourite colour and favourite weekday. There's a graffiti drawn by Kenji Chai near the road to terminal bus bandar tasik selatan which is near my house too. He change it every year before Chinese New Year but his signature dog "Chai-go" will always be there.

Rhythm + Repetition
I used colour, lines, dots and plane. For line and dots, I used thread , sharpie , nails.
Unity + Variety
I used the same method as rhythm + repetition to do the pop up.  I also used modelling board by stacking up

Forbidden City - Shade + Shadow

19:09 Nicole Tay 0 Comments

We are needed to stack up our building given using the original 3D building blocks. It's challenging for us because forbidden city have a lot of pillars. We had difficulties on taking photo of it as it fell very quickly once we took a pic so we keep stacking it. Even though we use blue tack to stabilise it , it still drop.
Light: Middle Front
Description: Can see the structure. Shadow overlapped a bit on the right, also left
Light: Bottom Middle
Description: Shadow overlapped. Only can see some light pass through.
Light: Left Bottom
Description: Can see the 3D shape of the building. Light reflect from building back to shadow on the left. Shadow  overlapped on the right.
Scale of human figure: 25cm
Description: Human figure is placed in front of the building. It has almost the same height  as the building. At this point of view, it looks like a exhibition (3D sculpture display).
Scale of human figure: 5cm
Description: In this picture, the human figure looks like an actual size human. The  human figure is placed in the building, between the pillars.
Scale of human figure: 15cm
Description: The human figure is placed at the left of the building. At this point of view, it looks like a big size display
